Biography
Dr. Autumn West, soprano, enjoys an active career in opera, oratorio, and concert performance. Her professional engagements have seen her perform with Cincinnati Opera, Sugar Creek Opera, Moscow's Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, Cincinnati Chamber Opera, Queen City Opera, Roundabout Opera for Kids Cincinnati, the Carnegie Theater of Covington, Kentucky, among others. Dr. West’s 2017-2018 season will include engagements with Canterbury Voices and the Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù City Philharmonic, the Kemp Concert Series, The City Cabaret OKC, and Painted Sky Opera.
Before beginning her service on faculty at Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù, Dr. West served on the voice faculty at Wittenberg University, and worked with students in the renowned Musical Theater and Drama programs at CCM both privately and as a classroom instructor. Internationally, Dr. West recently returned from teaching at a two week intensive on Musical Theater technique and style with students at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in Tianjin, China.
An active arts administrator, in 2013 Dr. West co-founded Cincinnati Chamber Opera, a company devoted to showcasing rarely-performed operatic gems in non-traditional venues, presenting opera in a current, accessible, and relevant way. She currently serves as Executive and Artistic Director for this organization.
Dr. West received her bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her doctoral degree includes concentrations in vocal pedagogy, musical theater style and technique, and arts administration.
