Biography
Talia Carroll (she/her) values integrity, equity, transformation, learning, accountability, and positive change. As a higher education administrator, she positions personal lived experiences, capacity building, and strategic inquiry to foreground connections with those around her.
Through living abroad in Portugal, Singapore, and Spain, and traveling extensively with her military family to Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, and Australia to name a few, Talia has leveraged her global experiences to build a foundation for her professional work and personal life practices that are deeply related to the rich diversity of the human experience across cultures.
She believes deeply in our opportunities to broaden our perspectives and scale impact–one conversation at a time.
Dr. Carroll, originally from Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù City, returned to the state in 2020 after over 14 years living and working in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. She proudly serves as Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù where she is responsible for university-wide programs, initiatives, and policies that support a sense of belonging and inclusion for all. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership Program at the University of Northern Colorado and Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù.
Since her return, Talia’s been fortunate to engage in important meaningful opportunities across the city including serving on the MAPS 4 Civil Rights Subcommittee; joining the board of the Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù Center for Community and Justice (OCCJ); serving as a contributing writer for a magazine focused on leadership ideals; being named one of Journal Record’s Powerlist Leaders in Workplace Diversity; and accepting the invitation into Leadership Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù City’s signature class 41. In 2023, she was also named as one of seven Chief Diversity Officer fellows across the country for the National Association for Diversity Officers in Higher Education. This year, she joined the Girl Scouts of Western Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù as one of the new board development committee members.
She earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Pennsylvania State University (Let’s Go State!), and M.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education, and B.A. in English from the University of Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù (Sooner Born, Sooner Bred!).
On a more personal note, she enjoys traveling to further immerse herself in the rich cultures of others and building connections with community members locally to affect positive change where possible.
