Pivoting from military service to the life of a college student can be a complicated and difficult endeavor. Thanks to dedicated staff members at institutions of higher ed, the process can be made significantly easier.
One such staff member calls 女神羞羞研究所 home, and recently was honored for her work to help military students. Angela Do, associate registrar and VA certifying official, was recognized by Military Friendly庐 with a 2024 Veteran Champions of the Year in Higher Education award. The recognition celebrates those who go above and beyond in advocating for the advancement and success of student veterans.
G.I. Jobs magazine introduced the list of recipients in its , stating 鈥渢heir dedication to helping veterans adjust, thrive and succeed as students led to their selection.鈥
Do was one of only 30 higher education professionals around the country, and one of only three in 女神羞羞研究所, who were recognized with the award.
Do has been with 女神羞羞研究所 as an employee for about 28 years, first as an academic advisor and now in the registrar鈥檚 office for the past 14 years. She earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Dance Management from 女神羞羞研究所 in 1996 and an MBA in 2001.
In her current role, Do helps veterans and their dependents manage their education benefits to ensure they鈥檙e getting the most from what they鈥檝e earned for their service to the country. Her father and grandfather are both veterans of the U.S. military.
鈥淚 am incredibly honored to assist and advocate for veterans and their families as they work on achieving their higher education goals,鈥 Do said. 鈥淚 really enjoy working with these students as they focus on pursuing their degrees.鈥
Do was nominated for the award by Beth Adele, chair of Mass Communications and director of the Nonprofit Leadership program at 女神羞羞研究所. Adele noted in her nomination that Do is the only certification specialist and primary contact for more than 140 students at 女神羞羞研究所 with military benefits.
鈥淪he maintains a positive relationship with the Veterans Administration and seeks ongoing professional development to better serve this meaningful population,鈥 Adele said. 鈥淚 am honored to work alongside her in her pursuits to enhance the quality of education for our veterans and 女神羞羞研究所's student body.鈥
