To be considered for the Clara Luper Scholarship:

  1. Applicants must be a full-time, first-time student matriculating directly from high school.
  2. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA.*
  3. Applicants must be admitted to Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù by December 15.
  4. Applicants must submit a complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 15.
    • The FAFSA can be accessed starting October 1, and completed online at .
    • Include Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù's federal code (003166) on the application.
    • Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù residents are urged to submit the FAFSA no later than December 1 to ensure maximum eligibility determination for state grants.
  5. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need, which will be determined by the FAFSA.
  6. Applicants chosen by the Department of Education for the verification process must submit additional financial aid documents.*
  7. Preference is given to Å®ÉñÐßÐßÑо¿Ëù students.

*Students may be selected for an interview with outstanding requirements. Students will need to submit additional financial aid documents for further review, in a timely manner. Scholarship offers will not be made or guaranteed to students who do not complete the necessary steps for verification.

This generous scholarship includes membership in the prestigious President’s Leadership Class, which is comprised of distinguished scholars joined together to participate in a unique academic and co-curricular living/learning experience.

This is an annual award for four academic years / eight consecutive semesters (not to exceed 128 undergraduate credit hours). In order to continue to receive the scholarship each year, scholars must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and fully participate in the program.

After all federal and state grants have been applied, the Clara Luper Scholarship covers:

  • The remaining tuition up to the block pricing structure of 12-16 credit hours**
  • University-designated standard rooms ***
  • Meal Plan C or Meal Plan L

** University and class fees, books from the campus bookstore, and credits over the block will not be covered by any university scholarships. Federal and state grants, outside scholarships, loans, and personal payments can be used to cover the cost of university fees. Grants cannot be used to cover credit hours over the block.

*** The scholarship excludes coverage of rooms in Cokesbury Apartments. No part of the room scholarship can be applied toward Cokesbury. After first year year, the room scholarship can be applied toward Methodist Hall. Students are responsible for housing costs not covered by the scholarship.
